The chronicles of the moment [3/3]
At Samaya®, we strongly believe in the power of storytelling. It inspires our choices of outings, climbs, bivouacs, trips and ends up indirectly changing our lives. At this atypical end of the year, as the cold sets in and the snow sparkles, a completely different relationship to the mountains is emerging. We are keen to share this new vision of the mountain with you through a series of chronicles. Let yourself be guided to reclaim the present moment by looking up, towards this place that we like so much, towards this unique place where the ground stops to meet the starry sky.
CHAPTER 3: MARVEL & START AGAIN
Time does not pass: it is only us who cross it. Far too often our way of apprehending it is not the right one.
Like a fluid that flows inexorably and that we would like to be able to retain, it escapes us. This incessant reminder to the clock is dizzying. It permanently obliterates our relationship to the moment. At the bivouac, the weather remains the same, but our relationship to it is very different. When the hustle and bustle of life and the hubbub of social media are silenced, a transformation takes place. The return to an ancestral practice, indexed to the history of mankind, puts our relationship to progress into perspective. The city imposes the time on us when nature seems to give us time.
The city imposes the time on us when nature seems to give us time. The serene spirit, the tensions are then appeased at the same time as the perception is refined. Sleeping outside is enjoying the most beautiful spectacle that nature has to offer. This relationship to the beauty of the world is a reconciliation. That of man with an environment from which he has dissociated himself for too long. Getting closer to the stars is a way to put perspective. A distance from the world that paradoxically connects and allows us to rediscover a form of unity. Like the high mountains that put us back in our rightful place as humans, the sky and its unfathomable immensity also remind us of the extent of what we still have to discover.
To allow oneself to contemplate a starry sky is also to return to childhood. Samaya® tents are "toys for grown-ups" that allow you to connect to the present through the joyful emotions of the past.
This quest for heights is ultimately a quest for meaning on the path to sobriety.
Pitching your tent is like building an ephemeral cabin that carries with it the promise of future adventures. The bivouac is also the place where future projects are born. Inspired by the surrounding peaks, galvanized by the ambient air, the decor is nothing but inspiration. Each ascent refers to a new ascent which itself leads to a new vertical horizon. This quest for heights is ultimately a quest for meaning on the path to sobriety. As with mountaineering equipment, it is when there is nothing more to add or subtract that we measure the value of things.
When you wake up, the first rays warm the achy bodies. They are the nectar from the sky which reminds us that the sun cannot be bought. That when you have everything, voluntarily depriving yourself of the superfluous, keeping only a roof, enough to sustain yourself and a little warmth, gives relief to life. Watching the star rise, we feel rich with what we have. At this moment, no currency could compete with such a moment. This “state of being” takes precedence over our possessions but also over action. Satisfied by the effort of the day before, there is nothing more to do. These moments of eternity gleaned from the heart of timeless places whose face has remained the same since the dawn of time are precious. They take us back to our base and give us a fresh look at the world.
From these experiences are born an inspiring gratitude and another definition of earthly paradise. Wonder is a powerful door to (re)connect to present happiness. Samaya® products are designed as so many keys to access these timeless experiences. What if it's the right time for you to take the time to live and feel the moment?
